Poke with seaweed and potato salad from Da Poke Shack, which we ate on a picnic table as we watched and listened to the waves crash against the shores at Pahoehoe Beach Park.
We rented the bottom level of a duplex from airbnb. It was so nice feeling at home, having our own living room and kitchen. We cooked fish with fresh zucchini and long beans from the farmers market. And for breakfast, we had instant oatmeal and Kona coffee.
We went swimming at White Sands Beach, tasted lots of Kona coffee, had cafe lunches with fish skewers and pita sandwiches, ice cream cones, lattes, walks along the beach. Although Kailua-Kona is pretty touristy, with resorts and cruise ships lining the oceanfront, we found quieter areas farther down the coast - making our stay truly relaxing.
