These next four posts are from our camping trip at June Lake, part of Inyo National Forest. To me, it's the perfect camping spot. June Lake is a quaint lake town surrounded by the gorgeous Sierra Nevada mountains with horseback riding, boating, fishing, picnicking, and hiking, as well as shopping and restaurants. It's also near Yosemite, Ansel Adams Wilderness, Bodie ghost town, and Mono Lake. Our first visit was to the haunted mining town of Bodie.
Located in a secluded valley in the Bodie Hills, this once thriving mining town from the 1880's is now eerily empty. Considered one of the West's best preserved ghost towns, the California Park Service keeps Bodie in an "arrested decay" meaning it is protected but not restored. A few nights in summer, the Bodie Foundation gives a ghost walk after hours.
